The Safety Consultation and Training Section (SCATS) of the State of Nevada’s Division of Industrial Relations will host the Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s (OSHA) Pacific Coast Safety Fest for Region IX on March 6-10 at their offices in Henderson. The Pacific Coast Safety Fest is a free, informative seminar designed to enhance workplace safety. Attendees receive credit for authorized OSHA Education Center classes and a certificate of attendance for all classes. The SCATS team will lead sections of the seminars including Heat Illness Prevention and will present on the free and confidential consultation and safety services SCATS offers to assist businesses in Nevada to be in compliance with OSHA standards. In addition, 10Hr Construction and 10Hr General Industry classes will take place at the Nevada State Museum in Las Vegas.
Pacific Coast Safety Fest is open to contractors, small business owners, professional technical educators, businesses required to follow OSHA standards and anyone interested in creating a safer workplace. Conference topics will include hazard recognition, accident investigation, job hazard analysis/job planning, Whistleblower regulations, and a variety of other general safety courses. The purpose of this training is to raise awareness concerning pertinent safety and health hazards and best work practices in the area where the training is being offered. The expected outcome of all OSHA training is related to the mission of OSHA that all workers return home safe each day.
