Join SCATS and Participate in This Year’s Safe + Sound Week

Safe + Sound Week (August 7-13, 2023) is a nationwide event for workplaces to recognize and improve their safety and health programs. It’s a great opportunity for employers and workers to come together and demonstrate their commitment to workplace safety and health. We know that workplace health and safety extends beyond physical hazards to include mental health and well-being as well.

This year, SCATS and the Recovery Friendly Workplace Initiative, a program offered by the Foundation for Recovery, are joining together to recognize OSHA’s Safe + Sound Week and will be providing a Mental Health Equals Physical Health course online at no cost for Nevada’s business owners and employees from 10-11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11.

The course will educate attendees about suicide rates in Nevada, the presence of mental health issues like substance abuse on the job and how to reduce the stigma around having mental health conversations in the workplace. Those interested may register online for the course.

Safety is a shared responsibility, and by working together, we can continue to create a safe and healthy work environment to ensure every worker goes home safe and sound at the end of the day. Participants can take the Safe + Sound Week pledge and sign up for Safe + Sound Week at https://www.osha.gov/safeandsoundweek.
