Updated COVID-19 Guidance for Nevada Businesses

Effective Date: July 13, 2023. The COVID-19 guidance has been updated to reflect that OSHA’s COVID-19 National Emphasis Program is no longer in effect.

Because COVID-19 is a recognized health hazard in the workplace, employers continue to have a duty to protect their employees. Employers should continue to evaluate the risk of COVID-19 in their workplace and incorporate an explanation of the methods used to identify, analyze, and control exposure to COVID-19 into the Written Safety Program required under NAC 618.540(1)(b).

While there are no state specific requirements regarding COVID-19, there are Federal requirements that remain in effect. These requirements include, but are not limited to:

  • Requirements related to voluntary use of respiratory protection (Attachment A).
  • Recordkeeping and reporting requirements with respect to COVID-19-related hospitalizations or fatalities at healthcare facilities (Attachment B).

Nevada OSHA will continue to review workplace safety complaints related to COVID-19 for compliance with applicable standards and the General Duty Clause under NRS 618.375.
