Andy Giddings, CSP

Consultation Supervisor
Reno territory

Mr. Giddings started his career in 1984 in the United States Army as a biomedical technician and completed his Associate of Science degree in biomedical equipment during his enlistment. He was honorably discharged and started work for the American Sterilizer Company in the San Francisco Bay area as a biomedical equipment technician. He then returned to the university setting as an engineer technician and a student and completed his Bachelor of Science in Technology and his Master of Science in Industrial Management at South Dakota State University. During his time at the university, he was awarded a South Dakota Space Grant Consortium/NASA grant for his graduate work and leadership on the high altitude balloon project. After graduation, Andy then moved back to the Reno area and worked as an industrial engineer at the JC Penney Distribution Center. Corporate restructuring plans caused Andy to change career paths and take an industrial hygienist position with Nevada OSHA Enforcement Section in Reno in 2001.

In October of 2009, Andy was selected to become the consultation supervisor of the Northern Nevada SCATS office in Reno. His duties include supervising Safety Consultants, an Industrial Hygienist, and support staff in the Reno and Elko offices.

Andy’s government and private industry experience in industrial management, employee training, customer service and technical support services plus his experience complying with government regulations have assisted him in helping clients understand how government policies and procedures apply to their business operations.

He is currently serving as President of the Sierra Nevada Chapter of ASSE and is a member of Washoe County CERT.
